Home Youth Music Djembe Drumming
Djembe Drumming PDF Print E-mail

What is it?

Group drumming with African djembe drums and percussion.

Who is it for?

Anyone, from early years to later years. Groups are only governed by the amount of instruments available. SoundWave can supply fifteen djembes (more on request) or work with instruments you already have at school or in a community group. Djembe drumming sessions can easily accommodate the absolute beginner or drummers that want to try something different.

What is the benefit?

Working together, listening to each other and the experience of learning something new. Another benefit is learning rhythm and songs from other cultures.

Coordination and numeracy can be improved through learning rhythms.

Developing self confidence through an activity, which quickly yields impressive results.

Availability? (where and when)

Anywhere with a decent size room, classroom, gym, church hall etc.

Who will deliver it?

David Roberts, Chris Stones or Steven Pearson will deliver your sessions. All have a lot of experience of working with groups from five to a hundred and fifty. All have a love of the instrument and a wealth of repertoire passed on from djembe masters from West Africa.

How much will it cost?

£200 for 1 full day (this could be 2 half days) or we can provide hourly rates to suit your needs.

Where could it lead?

There are always opportunities for newly formed or experienced groups to participate in performances and celebrations.
