What Is It?

Whether you're looking to form a band or already on the scene our team of musicians can help you with any or all of the following: rehearsal techniques, Dj-ing, song writing, performance tips, vocal techniques, music production, recording a demo, marketing and promoting your band and getting gigs.  Music Zone thrives on a varied mixture of abilities, interests, styles and motivations so it doesn’t matter where you particular tastes or abilities lie, there’s something to be gained from this stimulating music group.

Who is it for?

Music Zone is open to all young people between the ages of 11 and 19 years, who have a general interest in progressing their musical aspirations.  We are able to run groups of up to 30 participants at a time.  No previous experience is required all we ask you to bring is your creativity, passion and enthusiasm.  You’re welcome to bring along your own instruments too!

What’s the benefit?

A chance to working with seasoned professional musicians and learn from their experience.

A chance to perform at local, regional and national events and festivals

A safe environment in which to try different music making methods

An encouraging place to experiment

A friendly place to meet others with shared interests

A place to start learning the skills required to embark on further music training or pursue a professional career in music

Availability (where and when)

Music Zone is delivered weekly over ten week periods.  Each session is 3 hours long and normally runs from 6 -9pm.  It is preferable to run Music zone at a versatile venue that can accommodate large group sessions and provide space for smaller breakout sessions.

There is a Music Zone running at the Civic Hall in Whitehaven on Wednesday evenings from 6 – 9pm (term time) and at the Girl & Boys Club in Maryport on Thursday evenings from 4 – 7pm (term time)

Who will deliver it?

SoundWave’s team of professional musicians are not only experienced workshop leaders in a variety of specialist fields but are also active recording and performing artists with international experience.

How much will it cost?

SoundWave are happy to build a Music Zone experience tailored to your particular needs.  A SoundWave programme leader will be more than happy to discuss the costs with you.  Participants are asked to make a termly donation at their own discretion.

Where could it lead?

To further and higher education

To employment or contracts in the music industry

To the development of the skills young local musicians will need to sustain and build music careers of national significance, should they desire to do so.

To fun, social, music making experiences that promote integration, acceptance and an individual sense of pride and identity whilst inspiring confidence!
