'Sing Owt' is a friendly bunch of enthusiastic adult singers (age 14+) that meets weekly to sing a variety of modern, traditional, weird and wonderful songs from all genres including pop, jazz, blues, folk and rock. Enthusiasm is more important than any previous experience and new members are always welcome!
Whether you're looking to form a band or already on the scene our team of musicians can help you with any of the following: rehearsal techniques, Djing, song writing, performance tips, music production, recording a demo, marketing and promoting your band and getting gigs. SoundWave have places available at Solfest to help us develop new work and meet new young people.
Solfest have a workshop tent and a family arena, plenty of music to listen to, but they want more activities for people your age. SoundWave think that with your help and ideas we can offer it!
If you’ve got a bit of free time to come early on the Friday of Solfest, we can develop ideas together and get ready to put them into action. Instruments are welcome – but everything must be unplugged.
In exchange for a maximum of 10 hours of your time over the festival, you will be able to buy a young person’s ticket at the bargain price of £25 instead of £62!

Kick start your career in the arts on a 10 week paid placement with SoundWave.
We are looking for 2 graduates with the passion, energy, commitment and dedication required to inspire others with their artform.
Over the summer months, our team of professional musicians develop new work for the year ahead. You will be working with us to plan and resource live projects and events in the community.
Whilst music is the focus of our work, our projects are enriched by the opportunity to work with artists from other disciplines. Whatever your artistic background; we want to hear from you.

The Advanced Diploma – Creative and Media
SoundWave is delivering the music element of the Creative and Media diploma in West Cumbria. Students will get to work with some of our professional musicians developing real-life projects using state-of-the Art equipment. We’ll develop a special focus in 3D Sound and music production, as well as general music-making, composition, recording and performance. Whitehaven MusicZone takes place on Wednesdays 6pm till 9pm at Whitehaven Civic Hall.
Maryport MusicZone takes place on Thursdays 4pm till 7pm at Maryport Boys and Girls Club.
